Harel Insurance Investments and Financial Services Ltd. (Hereinafter: Harel Insurance and Finances), is a public company whose shares are traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The company is under the control of the Hamburger family who hold (directly and by means of holding company) 39.91% of the company shares. Sampoerna Capital holds 20.2% of the company shares.

Harel Insurance and Finances the third largest insurance group in Israel is a dynamic investment company with most of its business being focused on the insurance, capital market and financial spheres. In addition the group has also activity in the real estate sphere.

The Group's roots originated in Hamishmar, a small insurance agency, which was owned by the late Ernest and Margot Hamburger as and from 1935, after they immigrated to Israel from Germany.

In 1975, the family established the first insurance company "Harel". Seven years later, Harel Insurance and Finances (then known as Harel Hamishmar Investments Ltd.), was established and the ownership of Harel and the Hamishmar were transferred to its ownership. That year, its shares were offered to the public with great success. In 2007, the name of the company was changed to "Harel Insurance Investments and Financial Services Ltd.".

Harel Insurance and Finances has extensive international contacts and represents the world's leading foreign insurance companies in Israel.

As at 31 March 2007, the company balance sheet totaled approximately NIS 31 billion.
